I went through similar agony a few years ago when Coca-Cola discontinued Mr. Pibb, and in its place began producing the execrable Pibb Xtra. I knew I was in the minority, since hardly anybody drank Pibb, so there was no hue and cry as with the well-known disaster of Coke changing its formula in the mid-80s. Since then, I've jumped ship and taken up with Dr. Pepper, but as long as the original Pibb was around, Pepper was always a distant second.

I wish I'd hit upon your idea of threatening suicide over it. That's genius.

Last week I read about the KFC "double-down" and knew I had to have one. I went to one near work, but apparently its only available in trendier places like Nebraska. Very disappointed.

As a kid I liked Baskin Robbins' "Maui Brownie Madness" ice-cream. The rest of my family insisted it was inedible. Apparently other consumers agreed with them, as I haven't come across it in years. On the other hand, I haven't been to Baskin Robbins in quite a while either.

I, too, was devastated by the demise of chocolate vanilla creme Pop-Tarts. I used to buy 3 or 4 boxes whenever I would run across some.

Ben & Jerry's used to make a delicious vanilla fudge brownie. It's in their graveyard now. *sigh*

I am seriously distraught. I usually would eat one pop tart a day. Always the frosted chocolate vanilla creme. I am 42 and been eating pop tarts since I was crawling. They don't realize the psychological effect this has on someone

I LOVED THESE THINGS FOR LIKE 20 YEARS AND THEY TOOK THEM FROM ME. SO DISSAPOINTED.

Much like Koogle peanut butter, Pink Panther Flakes cereal, and the Marathon candy bar, Frosted Chocolate Vanilla Creme Pop Tarts were taken away before its time. A senseless tragedy to be sure. But let's learn from this. Tell your friends. Tell your neighbors. Buy what you love. Buy lots of what you love. Don't let this happen to Vanilla Coke or any other treat we adore.

I meant to say, "... taken away before their time."

There was no better flavor of Pop tart than the frosted chocolate vanilla creme. It seems like every food I am very attatched to soon becomes discontinued and I find myself searching on line praying I'll find it. This just happened with my Tostinos Mexican pizza! Noone else makes a frozen mexican pizza to even try to subsitute it with. And speaking of subsituting, Kellogs suggested you try the Cookies and Cream as a subsitute for our beloved vanilla creme and they taste nothing like them! It seems to me we already have a whole lot of demand just on this one blog!

I found a place to get vanilla poptarts.. Amazon.com sounds kinda stupid ordering them but still,i've loved vanilla poptarts for 14 years and now there gone pisses me off

I am a very picky eater, the vanilla creme poptarts were the only breakfast food that I would eat.
Now I just skip breakfast.

I couldn't agree more. What public were they using that said this flavor was not popular? I love them and really miss them, another one they suggest as a sub is the Hot Fudge Sundae (probably because no one is buying them :) ) I want the Chocolate Vanilla Creme ones back. Everything I have read so far on the web, everyone has LOVED them and no other flavor is a good sub for it.

Those were the ONLY poptarts I would eat. I have tried other flavors, but blech. BRING THEM BACK!!!

Just not the same at Breakfast..I have been forced to eat Walmart brand pasteries the last year or so because not only did they take my favorite flavor they jacked the price up too..........

There is a new flavor called Ice Cream Sandwich that is the closest in taste that I have found. They even look like Chocolate Vanilla Cream. I buy 3 or 4 boxes at a time because I am sure they will discontinue these too.

Thanks, Dave. I'll hunt 'em down and stock up.

The new "Ice Creme Sandwich" Pop Tart is so close to "Frosted Vanilla Creme" that you won't be able to tell the difference.

I think the new Ice Cream Sandwich flavor actually is the same program routine that was used for chocolate and vanilla cream. Like others here I always thought chocolate and vanilla cream was the best of all of the poptarts. Cookies and Cream just don't compare.

Another decent one is chocolate chip flavor. Those are actually quite good.

that's a very convincing closing line. all for the love of Frosted Chocolate Vanilla Creme Pop-Tarts.

just bring them back. !

I also am 42 years old and have been consuming frosted chocolate vanilla cream pop-tarts since I was 7 years old, and was also devastated when they were taken off the market. GOOD NEWS!!! the new ice cream sandwiches pop-tarts look and taste exactly like the old ones. The chocolate is like the milk chocolate variety - not that chalky dark chocolate they pass off in the cookies and cream kind. And the vanilla cream tastes exactly the same. The frosted chocolate vanilla cream pop-tarts were and will always be the perfect combination of chocolate and vanilla put together anywhere at any time. Stock up now on Ice cream sandwiches pop-tarts because I can tell they are not selling fast in the stores and will soon be discontinued, Thank you so much for having this blog!!!

I was also very sad to hear about the discontinuation. Looking at some reviews of the Ice Cream Sandwich flavor on Amazon:

People are saying that they are, in fact, the same Pop Tarts re-branded. I've tried them and feel they are similar but am not 100% sure they are the same. It might just be a mental thing though since I don't actually know that they are the same. You know what I mean?

my children and I ONLY ate the chocolate vanilla cream pop tarts. everytime I am in the pop tart section at the store, I stop and look, thinking that maybe, just this once, I'll actually see the pop tarts that I miss so much. No such luck. Bad move Kellogg's!

I have been devoted to this flavor of Pop tarts-absolutely my favorite, no contest. I thought I was just having trouble finding them because my husband got orders to a VERY small town in the desert of CA and the grocery stores here don't seem to carry squat. Alas, I too, have contemplated suicide over the discontinuation of my beloved Chocolate Vanilla creme pop tarts. However, I will try and locate the Ice cream sandwich variety since it sounds like a reasonable facsimile. Screw Cookies n Creme and that Ice Cream shop crap-it's not even close. Glad to know I'm not the only 40 yr old grieving the loss of my all-time favorite breakfast food.

My dad used to put out 6 Chocolate Vanilla creme poptarts every morning for me & my 2 older sisters - so of course, I ate 2 a day! I was in college before I realized that you were only supposed to eat 1! I have, like most of you, I'm sure, searched and searched! My kids call them "mommy poptarts" - the youngest is 15 and has been SO upset! I just couldn't let myself believe they were gone- just kept thinking... Maybe they just stopped selling them at my Kroger... Wishful thinking!!!

I'll be sure to try the ice cream sandwich flavor... Just in case
